Jeffrey Lee "Bushy" Hudnall

Jeffrey Lee "Bushy" Hudnall

Jeffrey Lee “Bushy” Hudnall, 38, of Little Rock passed quietly at his mother’s home on January 3, 2013. Jeffrey was born on November 23, 1974 in Hot Springs, Arkansas and was a prominent promoter and visionary in the electronic dance music industry.

In the late 90’s, he formed Cybertribe, which produced numerous events featuring top talent from the U.S. and globally. Using the latest in lighting, lasers, and sound engineering, Cybertribe events drew thousands of fans from Arkansas and surrounding states and helped launch the electronic music scene in central Arkansas.

In the last decade, Jeff continued to work tirelessly to build the electronic music scene. He produced and/or promoted events for many local clubs, including Discovery and the Rev Room. He also worked with nationally known deejays, club owners, and promoters from across the country to bring big-market talent and sound to Little Rock fans.

“Everyone in this business knows that Bushy planted the original seeds in the Little Rock electronic dance music scene. What is most important, is that he tended his crop – season after season – and through the good and the bad, what everyone will remember is his undying luv ,” says Michael “Big” Brown, a business partner and fellow promoter.

Jeff also had a deep love for family and friends. His gift for joy, a giving spirit, and enthusiasm affected all who knew him. One of his childhood friends, Melynda Muldoon Gidcomb of Hot Springs, wrote, “After 34 years of friendship there will be a lot of things that I miss... Your bigger than life personality, your bear hugs, your laugh, your infectious smile and deep dimples, your ability to turn anything into a party, our random conversations and ability to pick up right where we left off no matter how much time had gone by, but most of all your genuine spirit.”

Jeff’s cousin, Randa Stevens also wrote, “The best thing about holidays is you get to see family. For thirty years, my cousin Jeff and I have wanted to sit at the ‘kids’ table. This Christmas he hugged me a dozen times--that was just Jeff. He said to me, ‘You are an amazing Mom and you’re doing such a great job’ with his big Jeff smile. He had the ability to make everyone he met feel special.”

He is survived by his mother, Sandra Lee Hudnall of Little Rock and his father Edward C. Hudnall and wife Mary of Bryant and Mary’s mother Mam-Maw; his brother Scott Hudnall of Mayflower and wife Karisa; two beloved nieces Haydyn Lee and Kallie Rose Hudnall; two step-brothers Walt Pigott (Angel, Jon, MaKenzie, and Sidney) of Sparkman and Steve Pigott (Kim, Cody, Clint, and Cade) of Monticello. He had numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles who will miss his happy spirit always.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, January 9 at Ruebel Funeral Home (6313 West Markham Street, Little Rock, Arkansas.) Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 10, at 1:00 pm at Henderson United Methodist Church (13000 Baseline Road, Little Rock, Arkansas.) There will be no graveside ceremony. Family and friends will gather in the fellowship hall of the church after the ceremony.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests the Epilepsy Foundation, 8301 Professional Place, Landover, MD 20785 or a charity of their choice. Arrangements by Ruebel Funeral Home, www.ruebelfuneralhome.com.

"Where do you even begin when you have known someone like Bushy for 13 years? I have my best friends because of him. I met the father of my child because of him. I met my idols many times because of him. His smile was contagious. You could hear his laugh from the next room over and it would make you smile. Almost every single memorable moment of my teen/adult life seems to have some part of him in it. He brought everyone together and even now he continues to do just that. This town and our lives will never be the same without him in it. You will be forever missed my friend. "

"Like everyone else, I was stunned and greatly saddened by the news of Bushy's passing. My sincerest condolences to all of his family and friends; hopefully you will find peace and comfort as you celebrate his life.

Bushy (along with Chuck, Bobby and the rest of the Cybertribe) were good customers and friends of my companies (Sound Services and Light Services) back in the early heyday of dance parties, and we'll always appreciate that.

The past few years, I'd enjoyed working with Bushy at Discovery, and I'll continue to smile when I think of all the times he yelled happy greetings to me from across the parking lot there during the days when we'd see each other going up or down the steps to our respective offices. We will miss that happy smile and friendly voice. "

"Very rare that you find someone as special as Bushy. I met him back in 99 when I first moved to little rock. He left this world a much cooler place than he found it. He taught me how to be a good friend to anyone I met and to trust the good in people. He was a visionary and a true pioneer in the world of electronic dance. He wasn't afraid to dream big and make those dreams a reality. So many fond memories of this man. Hanging out backstage with the Deftones and cypress hill. I would always get him backstage because he had such a magnetic personality that the rock stars would become fast friends with him and let us hang out with them after the show. That was the beautiful thing about jeff. It really didn't matter who you were. He made you feel like you were a Rockstar regardless. He touched so many lives. I just want to say to his family, thank you so much for raising such a fine human being. He was one of a kind and I can't wait till the day I get to see him again. Heaven just got a lot more fun. I will carry his spirit with me for the rest of my life. Rest in peace old friend. God bless you all. "

"One of the few people in this town that really loved what music did to people. Everyone has a good time watching live music, and we all claim to LOVE it. Bushy did. Drove me crazy, he was always messing with me. Always had something to say. An idea. Just thinking of him makes me laugh every time. We were never best friends. But- he always helped me out when I was doing a show on my own. He always hoped the best for me. What a guy. I'm sorry for the families lost, and all of Little Rock is celebrating his life. "

"Jeff hired me when I was 15 and he was 19 at Circus Capers in Little Rock. He quickly became a big brother and brought light to a dark time in my life. He was simply an amazing person and I echo all the sentiments of others. His smile unconditional acceptance of all people and his ability to make the most unloved person feel like they are the most important person on the planet are special gifts that I will try to carry on in my life in his honor. It is no wonder he was loved so deeply by so many. My deepest condolences for such an irreplaceable loss."

Renee Hohn | Bryant, AR | Renee.hohn@gmail.com

"I never worked with Bushy nor was I his best friend. I would say we were more like really good acquaintances. I experienced the joy and music he brought to our state from the age of 18, and continued to enjoy it to this day at the age of 31. He truly was a risk taker and pioneer with a music genre that used to be "frowned upon", but is now main stream.

There was never a time I did not see him smiling. Whether it was at a show, or at the gas station. He had one of the best bear hugs around, not to mention positive attitude and a world class head nod if I ever saw one :). Many hearts ache and will miss his beautiful soul. He will be missed ..."

"I knew Bushy well! There are deep feelings from a friend, business partner, rebel, change maker, and scene making man Jeffrey Hudnall. Someone I've known for 15 yrs. His love for bringing people together, creating a family of friends was his driving force in life. We shared many plans, dances and conversations about a community we both loved. We produced events together and I helped him through a few hard times. I saw him dancing in the sky, free and laughing when listening to Paul Oakenfolds Tranceport CD, which was a big hit during our haydays! I shed a tear for him today and know that he would want unity. I love him and always will. I can hear him laughing with his mouth wide open, loud as can be. What a soul he is! I don't feel sad though.......he left a legacy that is within us all and Will live on forever. He would want us all to keep dancing!"
Corey Call | San Fransisco, CA | coreycall@gmail.com

"It is so obvious to me that even the LUV you see by all the nice things said about Bushy.... even that is nothing compared to the LUV he gave. One of the realist people I have met in 20 years.
You will be missed.
Peace Luv Unity"

"I had the honor of meeting Bushy in the late 90s. The impact that he had, not only on the Little Rock music scene, electronic music in general, but on the lives of those around him is immeasurable. His smile lit up the room and his larger than life personality preceded him everywhere he went. I will be eternally grateful to have known him. My deepest sympathies to the family and friends. "

"The Crybertribe logo was almost EVERY where. On flyers, stickers stuck to cars and lockers and school binders and even in text books at Parkview on the side walks and walls all sorts of neat places all over the city. When I moved here from Arizona sad and depressed to have been moved away from my friends there by my family to finish high school in such a backwards place. For me in 2000 when I moved here this was a symbol of hope, that this place wasn't going to be so bad and guess what? I Stayed. The group of friends Ive made and the ones still in my life today I know because of the events he put together that I got to be a apart of. My heart aches for the loss of Bushy, its amazing to see just how many people this man truly touched in one way or another we are all connected and we all feel this loss together.
♥ Long Live Cybertribe! ♥
I believe this is the best way to honor him get together have a party, remember and love each other while we are still here ♥"

"I want thank each of you for the love and respect you have shown Jeff in your comments. As a father I have always known Jeff had special gifts. When Jeff was still sitting in the back of a grocery cart he would converse with other adult shoppers as we passed. They were amazed at this little boy who inevitably brought smiles to their faces. Jeff never meet a stranger in his entire life as you all know by your witness.
During his 5th or 6th birthday party as his friends gathered I noticed the make up of the group. There were three boys his color, one black, one in a wheel chair and a little girl with "sunshine hair". A perfect picture of affirmative action but that is who Jeff was all of his life.
So the man that you all loved has always been open, accepting and giving. Jeff was a ray of sunshine and my world is much darker with is passage. Your comments have been a blessing and now may God bless each of you.
Jeff's dad."

"Ive known Bushy since I was 19. Before I even knew anyone else in the scene. Id be all dressed up sitting by myself listening to the music always early and he would always come see if I was having a good time and once gave me a kaos t shirt. Later I gave out fliers for him, I took pictures with him, and asked him many questions about what everything was about and what it was like before I was old enough to go out. He loved people and was always trying to make each show better than the last. All he really cared about was that people enjoyed themselves. After the first time I ever djed at one of Bush's events, wicked2, he told me he was proud of me and hegave me a hug with a big Bushy smile. Ive been to shows with him, been on roadtrips with him, and have so many great memories with him. He was a wonderful person who never took advantage of people and always looked out for young kids like me. Ill miss you Bushy."

"RIP Bushy
When I think of Jeff these are the words that come to mind: love, family, awesome, enthusiastic, creative, joyful and sentimental; all of these describe Jeff perfectly
We are all going to miss you so much it's a horrible thing that you died at such a young age but you are in a better place
you have accomplished so much in life and you have gave us so much in your life and you still had so much more to give…
That smile on your face was classic it brought life to the party
He really appreciated his family and always put them before himself which is a very brave thing to do
He was really passionate about music he had realized a dream and chased and achieved his dream
Me and my uncle Jeff had a lot of fun together… awhile back we made butter beer we were both Harry potter fans so… that was so much fun he made everything fun… Harry potter was one if the things we both liked we didn't always agree but I still love him

I love you uncle Jeff "
