Alyce Elizabeth Dowd Hasler

Alyce Elizabeth Dowd Hasler, 79, of Little Rock, died Wednesday evening, October 17, 2007, at home with her family. She was born September 12, 1928, in Jenks, Oklahoma to the late Bertha Naomi Allton Dowd and Charles Lee Dowd. She is preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister.
She is survived by her husband Donald C. “Don” Hasler of Little Rock, 5 children: Dennis Hasler and wife Christine of Little Rock, Teresa “Tere” Hasler Arbogast and Robin Arbogast of Sherwood, Michael Hasler of North Little Rock, Mitchell Hasler and wife Angela of Sherwood, and Donita “DeeDee” Hasler Wehmer and husband Bill of Little Rock. She is also survived by one sister Madeline Dowd Haynes of Burro Mountain, New Mexico, and 10 Grandchildren: Eric, Evan, Kelley, Allison, Emily, Daniel, Cole and Lindsey Hasler, John Wehmer and Sean Arbogast, all of the Little Rock area.
She graduated in 1945 from Classen High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and began working for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company that same year.
Alyce and Don met in 1951 and were married in Roswell, New Mexico on July 3, 1954. She continued working for the telephone company, as a supervisor, until 1956, when she left to begin raising her family.
The family moved to Richardson, Texas in 1959, and to Little Rock in 1966. Alyce was a Cub Scout Den Mother and was active with the Boy Scouts of America for many years in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. Alyce and Don were charter members of Christ the King Catholic Church. They were members of The Good Sam Club, Rock City Sam’s chapter.
A Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 21, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Little Rock. Visitation will immediately follow the Rosary at approximately 8:15 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 22, at Christ the King with burial to follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. Following the burial services, a reception will be held at the church.
