Biography: William Robert Swaim, 88, died peacefully Thursday, July 21, 2016, at St. Vincent Hospital after a brief illness. It was his 67th anniversary with his wife, Monita Kelly Swaim, who survives him. Other survivors include his daughter, Julie Swaim Jones and husband Dr. John C. Jones, Sr. of Little Rock, the grandchildren he adored, Jordan Rhodes (Noah) of Greenwich, CT, Jamie Jones, Barrett Norton (Andrew) all of Little Rock and Lt. John Collier Jones, Jr. stationed in Sasebo, Japan. He also leaves four great-grandchildren, Scottie and Fourth Rhodes and Tucker and Brooks Norton. All will miss him very much. Bill was born on December 5, 1927, to his parents William Parr and Julia Mae Swaim of England, AR who preceded him in death along with his sister, Mary Louise Swaim. He graduated from Central High School in 1945. He worked at Parkin Printing Company until becoming a gentleman farmer on family land in Lonoke County where great times of fishing, shooting, horseback riding, go-carting and tractorriding were had by the grandchildren and their friends. He was an active member of First Baptist Church working in the Recreational Center for close to 10 years. When younger, he volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club in downtown Little Rock for over 10 years. When retiring, he and his wife volunteered at the Arkansas Children's Hospital rocking sick babies and helping with preschool children. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at St. Vincent Hospital for their excellent and compassionate care with a special thanks to Drs. Dean and Drew Kumpuris. A family graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be sent to the Arkansas Children's Hospital or the Boys and Girls Club of Central Arkansas.

Julie and Monita, Just wanted to say that we have such fond memories of your sweet father and husband. We will always remember him as a kind, generous, Christian man who truly loved his Lord and his family. And, we know he loved watching Collier play golf. Jim remembers spending wonderful days with him on the golf course watching the boys. I look forward to the day we can see him again in heaven. He'll be waiting! We send our love and prayers to your family.

Monita, I was so sad to hear that Bill had passed away...He was a very special man to many people...especially to me! When he would bring the Grandkids to the office, he would always brighten my day. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Sherry

Ohhh "hop-a-long" Bill was so precious, as is his bride of 67 years. Not many people can say that. The heavens opened up for such a sweet and endearing man.
