Biography: Anna Kate McHenry (Katy) was born on November 30, 1968. She died on September 10, 2016 at UAMS, where she received excellent care. She attended Westover Hills Nursery School, Forest Park Elementary, Stephens Intermediate, Pulaski Heights Junior High, and graduated from Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. She made many lifelong friends along the way. Determined to go to California, she went to Loyola Marymount College in Los Angeles. Deciding that California was not as interesting as she had imagined, she transferred to William Woods College in Fulton, Missouri, and then graduated from UALR with a degree in Studio Art. Later she studied Interior Design at UCA. Katy loved to travel. She was proud of her kayaking adventure with Outward Bound in Mexico. One of her favorite destinations was St. John. She loved road trips and was known to take off and drive cross country to visit a friend, to follow the Grateful Dead, or to find an adventure. She loved camping. She loved her dogs. She loved being an aunt. She was a free spirit, an artist, and a spiritual and creative soul. She is survived by her father, Robert McHenry and his wife Donna; her mother, Mary Lee Darr McHenry and her partner, Bill Sneed; her sister, Frances Caroline McHenry Carter and her husband Jimbo of Little Rock; her sister, Lisa Darr McHenry White and her husband Rich of Chevy Chase, Maryland; four nieces and nephews, Casey Clare Carter, Hannah Maureen White, Charles McHenry White and Lee Tucker White; and many loving friends. She is predeceased by her grandparents, Frances Clare and Percy Porter Darr and Pauline Dugger and Robert Moore McHenry Sr. of Conway, Arkansas. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 16 at 2 p.m. at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church. Memorials may be given to Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, UAMS Arts Council, or the Pulaski County Humane Society.
