Biography: Richard Edward Farris died at home in Little Rock, Arkansas on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at the age of 66 years. Richard was born March 22, 1951 in Little Rock, the third of four children to Dr. Guy R. Farris and Joan Reichardt Farris. Richard was predeceased by Dr. and Mrs. Farris, as well as by his former wife, Bridget Fennell Farris. Richard is survived by his sons, Greyson Farris of Springdale, Arkansas and Matthew (Lindsey) Farris and their daughter Penny of Maumelle, Arkansas; his brother, Guy R. (Skip) Farris, III (Missy) of Portland, Oregon; sisters, Kristi Broglen (Rick, deceased) and Ruth Ann (Roger) Yancey, of Little Rock. Richard was beloved by many nieces and nephews and their children as well. Richard graduated from Little Rock Central High School in 1969 and from UALR in 1974. In 1977, Richard established Farris Construction, which he operated until his recent retirement. During his career, Richard built some of the finest homes in and around Little Rock. Oftentimes, Richard?s clients became additions to a long list of faithful friends. Richard was a lover of the outdoors who enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and close friends. Richard will be remembered by all who knew him for his generosity, kindness and his unflagging helpfulness, especially in times of trouble. A service in celebration of Richard?s life will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at 3:00 P.M. at St. Margaret?s Episcopal Church, where Richard was a member. The Rev. Mary Vano will officiate. Interment will follow the service and a reception at the church will follow. The family requests that any memorials be made to St. Margaret?s Episcopal Church, 20900 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Arkansas 72223 or Central Arkansas Habitat for Humanity, 6700 S. University Ave. Little Rock, Arkansas 72209.

Richard was a very kind person who was tender and gentle with his precious mother, Jo, during her last few months. He had a ready laugh and sweet grin for all in his presence. Your loss is our loss; I regret we were out of town and unable to pay our respects at his service. Please know our hearts and prayers are with you and your respective families.

As my brother in law, Richard was a huge part of our family's life for many years. He was unfailingly kind and a gentleman but more than almost anyone I knew, Richard was there when you really needed someone. When my kids were younger our house was broken into. The French doors were busted out, a gaping hole into the cold dark evening and my husband was out of town. I immediately thought "Richard!" I knew he would help. He came over a short time after I called with large sheets of plywood and secured us from the elements in no time flat. That was Richard, a stand up guy you could count on for help in times of need. Tom and I will always miss him. My condolences to all of the Farris's, especially Matt and Grey. May he rest in peace.

Richard and I were neighbors for 11+ years. This was before his divorce, so I knew Bridget and I knew his sons.

Gray was a soccer player - and before the 'pool fence' was built, he would kick the ball into my yard - then jump the fence to retrieve it andI would wait till he was close enough back to his yard to let my (harmless) dogs out to 'chase' him over the fence.

Richard was a great neighbor - often helpful and just a 'Good Guy'. He loved my banana bread (and his dogs did too!).

I am so sorry he. Isn't with us any more.
