Roger was probably the first reporter to cover Central Ark Transit in my era, He was bright witty and funny and fair, always enjoyed working with him as a reporter and when he moved to the Chamber. Lost track of him long ago but never forgot him, he will be missed by many

I was very sad to read of Roger's passing today in the paper. He was my "Big Brother" when I pledged Sigma Nu fraternity at Little Rock University and showed me the "ropes" on how to navigate through college. He was not only a good person but a good athlete as a Trojan basketball player. I send my condolences to his family.

Roger had a rare gift for seeing deeply. When one of my paintings spoke to him, he answered with poetry-beautiful, intentional, and full of feeling. His words revealed emotions I didn't know I had and reminded me why art matters.

I will always carry his encouragement with me. He will be deeply missed.

For the few short years Roger lived in NJ (and taught at Monmouth College where we became fast friends) he brought a bit of southern charm and kindness to the Jersey Shore. Many nights we sat with or without a few beers and talked poetry and screen writing--his insights were always a welcome addition to my literary education. Our many nights at Monmouth College and in Jersey shore dive bars after classes are among my favorite memories of the '80s and early '90s. "Tell me somethin' good." Happy trails, my friend.

Rog: As you embark on a new adventure, don't forget to tell our Signa Nu brothers and our other friends who have gone before us (especially Danny G) that Greg says "Hello." As you have said to me many times over the past 52 years, "Peace and love." It will be tough knowing you are not close by.
